Mallesons works closely with Sydney Opera House to protect Australia’s most famous icon.

The image of Sydney Opera House is one of the most recognised in the world. However, while it is a symbol of Australia and a great public institution, some people think that they can use the image for their own commercial purposes, or as part of their own brand. Since becoming a Corporate Sponsor in 2006, Mallesons has worked closely with Sydney Opera House to protect  its brand and on other legal matters.  Indeed, registering the first trade mark of the exact image of Sydney Opera House was both a legal milestone and an incredibly rewarding experience for our firm. 

Since then we have worked together on a broader program which has protected the new brand look and prevented dozens of unauthorised commercial uses of the Sydney Opera House image.  The program not only supports the reputation and brand values of Sydney Opera House, but helps encourage businesses to become corporate supporters if they want to partner with Sydney Opera House.
