Sydney Opera House, in partnership with Sony, presents Spring Dance 2010 – our second annual celebration of all that’s thrilling about dance. Four weeks of exceptional artistry, athleticism and grace from some of the most exciting choreographers and performers working across the globe.
This season unveils four Australian Premieres, two World Premieres and a new Sydney Opera House commission. Flemish / Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui performs in a Sadler’s Wells production, tap legend Savion Glover makes his first Australian appearance and Artistic Director of Chunky Move, Gideon Obarzanek returns to the stage for the first time in 18 years!
2010 sees the return of free dance films on the forecourt and the online global dance competition – My Mutation. This year, there is even a duet for dancer and earthmover performed free on the forecourt.

Bare Soundz

The Chooky Dancers from Elcho Island reveal the essence of their Yolngu culture and perform dance inspired by everything from Bollywood to Gene Kelly.

Sweeping you into a world of altered realities Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary dancers Paul White and Kristina Chan perform Narelle Benjamin’s yoga inspired choreography.
Singular Sensation

A provocative and compelling work Godder’s performers plunge headlong into seduction, complicity and power relations in an atmosphere of hilarious brutality and dark humour.

16-19 Sep
One of Europe's most celebrated choreographer-dancers, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui takes us on a journey through the world of the Shaolin monks in a thrilling performance that combines contemporary dance, martial arts and astonishing acrobatics.
Faker
21-26 Sep
After twenty years making works for individuals, groups and his own company Chunky Move, Obarzanek has created Faker, a disarmingly personal solo performance of his own.

In this hip-hop “road movie” Pierre Rigal’s astonishing dancers, break, pop, lock and krump their urban stories against a radiant block of light creating the startling effect of a comic book sequence.

2. Package sales only available over the counter or phone - Booking Form available online
3. Dance Pass A, Dance Pass B and Ultimate Dance Pass apply to A Res tickets and Premium tickets
4. Packages are limited and may be withdrawn without notice; buy early to avoid disappointment
5. Additional tickets may be purchased at a discount price if a patron later books additional eligible purchases and mentions this at the time of purchasing in person or via telephone; however the discount will not be applied to the ticket/s already purchased
6. A package discount cannot be added retrospectively: Package discount may not be applied on performances which have passed or transactions made previously
7. Dance Pass A, B and the Ultimate dance Pass applies to Full price tickets only whereas Choose Your Own applies to both Full price and concession tickets
8. Dance Passes are not available on Friday or Saturday evenings
